The best coffee I've found in this town. Only been open a month but is
the first place outside London to use Caravan coffee (from one of our
fave London brunch spots, Caravan). Best of all it's on my walk to
work.

My latest sewing project
This is what I made on Sunday. I found the fabric on sale at the
fabric shop at broadway market - it's got deck chairs on it! Hopefully
it isn't (or is?) too loud for work.

Me at work
This is me at work. Do I work in a call centre? No. Am I Madonna? No.
But I LOVE my phone headset all the same! It's perfect for 3 hour
telecons so that I can type & not get a crick in my neck.

This is a tea towel from Cornwall - my friend at work, Heidi, brought it back for me after her 2 week holiday. I shouldered her immense workload while she was gone, so I well and truly earned this!
Remember this top Sue?
I hadn't! Until today - the peplum waist is fabulous! And such a great
collar! If only it were warm enough for me to wear it sans cardi.

The Brummy Pad
Don't think I've shown you photos of my little Brummy Pad? So here it is:
This is the living area and kitchen - it gets lots of light which is nice (or would be, if I was ever there during the day!), and the windows open right up which is lovely in the hot hot English summer.
Recognise my goreous dear head from Scotland?
On the left is a gorgeous old old radio that Y picked up from a salvage yard - it still works! This is my little side board that came from up near Manchester, where, fortunately for me, they don't understand the value of "vintage"!
Here is the kitchen and my little table. My wall is covered in vintage posters.
You can see my fab sewing machine set up.
I made this table - well decoupaged it! It used to be one of the supper club tables and it had an MDF top. I painted the legs black with metal paint, and then used the map book we inherited from Soph & Pete (thanks guys!) to cover the top. Then a little tin of matt varnish later and ta-dah!
I love these chairs - they came from the same place as the sideboard.
The bedroom.
This is a view from the front door into the flat. The bathroom is just behind me on my left, and then the bedroom, and then straight ahead is the living area.
Can you see the blue patchwork quilt you made, Sue?
The loo.
And that's the tour!

Red
As I said, on the weekend I was transformed to a red head! It feels strange as I’ve had black hair for ever, but I like it. Next time it will go a bit lighter, but it’s a process apparently.
Do you like it?
Sewing!
The weekend
This weekend was spent in Birmingham – the two highlights relate to my hair and sewing. On the first topic, I am now a read head! (see next post)
On the second topic, Y gave me a sewing machine for my birthday and I have been a sewing demon ever since! This weekend I discovered the Rag Market in Birmingham, where there is loads of fabric - it is extremely cheap, although not the best quality. Here are some of the outfits I've made so far:
This black dress made from double knit jersey – so comfy – feels like I’m wearing a tracksuit!
This very fun black skirt.
The same dress but this time made with grey jersey.
A blog for my family
This is a blog about my life. Extremely boring and mundane for everyone but my family (and sometimes even for them).
To my wonderful family whom I miss very much, if you're reading this, I hope it makes me seem less far away. I am certainly thinking of you (more so than usual!) when writing it.
